Jerry and Mary Pierson came to Deep South Texas in the fall of 1991 as a result of a job transfer with Jerry's employer. Jerry was learning that the job he thought he would have until retirement wasn't all he hoped it would be. In 1996, he challenged her (Mary) to find a way to replace his income. Mary's mother could have told him to be careful of what he asked for because he would probably get it. Shortly thereafter, she took her love of quilting and combined it with her desire for a quilt shop and came up with the idea of vending at shows. After asking God to comfirm this as His plan for their life and dedicating the endeavor to Him, they set out to create a specialized business that would not only support them, but be a constant witness of their faith. In October of 2000, Jerry left a 22 year-career to go on the road with Mary. We've been traveling all over the country for three years now and it suits him just fine.
The current makeup of Original Creations is an evolution of sorts. Mary feels that they have been led to fill a specific niche, and has worked to that end. It is a curious makeupof several specialties: Kats, Kowboys and Kountry. Mary has also designed a line of embroidery patterns(MJP Designs)to be incorportated into quilts or used alone. They offer a wide selection of cat fabrics, cowboy, western and southwest fabric and a large group of patriotic prints. Teaching and lecturing about her passion keeps Mary busy, and Jerry spends most of his free time taking care of the pattern side of the business.
